Account & Data Deletion
Your data, your control.
You have the right to delete your Optophone account and all associated personal data at any time. This page explains what data we hold, what gets deleted, and the two ways you can request deletion.
What data is associated with your account?
When you use Optophone, the following categories of data may be associated with your (pseudonymous or linked) account:
- Authentication record — a Firebase Authentication user ID. If you linked Apple or Google Sign-In, this also includes the email and display name returned by the provider.
- Saved mixes — the sound mixes you’ve named and saved.
- Listening history — timestamps and durations of your listening sessions.
- Preferences — in-app settings such as your goal, bedtime reminder time, and visualizer choice.
- Pseudonymous analytics — Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics events associated with pseudonymous installation identifiers when the relevant privacy controls are enabled.
Apple or Google processes payments; we do not receive your payment card details. A linked sign-in provider may share your name and email. RevenueCat processes app user identifiers, purchase history, and entitlement information so we can provide Premium access.
What happens when you delete your account
- Permanently deleted from our servers: authentication record, saved mixes, listening history, cloud-synced preferences.
- Retained for up to 14 months, then auto-deleted: pseudonymous Firebase Analytics events (tied to the installation ID, not to you personally). Crash reports are retained up to 90 days.
- Purchase records: Apple and Google manage store billing records. RevenueCat also holds purchase and entitlement records on our behalf. Account deletion also starts server-side removal of the RevenueCat customer record; this can complete after the in-app confirmation. Contact privacy@optophone.app if you need help. Store subscriptions must be cancelled separately.
- Stored on your device: any local-only preferences will be removed when you uninstall the app.
Option 1 — Delete in the app (fastest)
From any device where you’re signed in
- Open Optophone.
- Tap the Profile tab.
- Scroll to Account and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm and, if prompted, authenticate again. The app removes your cloud data and then deletes the authentication record. Completion is shown only after those operations succeed; if an error appears, retry when connected or contact us.
This method also works for anonymous accounts (no sign-in required).
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
If you can no longer access the app (for example, you uninstalled it before deleting your account), email us with your request:
Send an email to privacy@optophone.app
Include the following:
- Subject line:
Account Deletion Request - The email address associated with your account, if you used Apple or Google Sign-In. An anonymous account may be impossible to identify after the app has been uninstalled.
- Confirmation that you are the account owner.
We verify ownership before deleting account data. Never send a password, sign-in code, or payment card number. We aim to complete verified requests within 30 days, subject to applicable law, and explain any required retention. No charge applies.
Email us nowWhat about subscriptions?
Active subscriptions are managed by the platform you purchased from. Deleting your Optophone account does not cancel an active subscription — you must do that separately:
- iOS / App Store: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Optophone → Cancel Subscription.
- Android / Google Play: Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Optophone → Cancel.
Your rights
Deletion is only one of the rights you have under global privacy laws. You may also:
- Access a copy of your data (GDPR Art. 15, CCPA §1798.110, LGPD Art. 18, PIPA Art. 35, PIPL Art. 44).
- Correct inaccurate data (GDPR Art. 16, LGPD Art. 18).
- Restrict or object to processing (GDPR Art. 18, 21).
- Port your data to another service (GDPR Art. 20, LGPD Art. 18).
- Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your information (CCPA/CPRA — use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information toggle in the app under Profile → Privacy controls).
To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@optophone.app.
